An entertaining game of football ended in a draw. We watched this one from the Miburn stand, and it was end to end from start to finish. Newcastle were fantastic in the first half, with Michael Owen hitting the post with his effort on goal, before scoring the first goal of the match in the 19th minute. West Ham were always dangerous with Bellamy making darting runs into the 18 yards area, but more often than not from an offside position. Bellamy however scored his goal to make it 1-1 in the first half. Early on in the second half West Ham started well and scored their second goal on the 55th minute. From then on, it was relentless attacks from the toon players, and West Hame were lucky with numerous Newcastle penalty shouts and a disallowed goal "perfectly good from where I was standing". In the end Newcastle pressure paid off and Carroll scored the equaliser with a great header. In the end, we felt rather disappointed not to take all three points.
Final Score: Newcastle United 2 - 2 West Ham United |

Newcastle United suffered their worst defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool. Without the services of their defenders Bassong and Enrique and Habib Beye the substitute backline were constantly under pressure from a good Liverpool attack line. The difference between the two team was immense during this match, but that may have been because of the personnel available to the Toon. Before the match, Mike Ashley announced his intention to remove the "For Sale" sign from St James Park. Maybe another reason for the players and fans to feel sorry for themselves. Shay Given was magnifcant in this match and without his world class saves, the scoreline could have been even more embarrasing.
Final Score: Newcastle United 1 - 5 Liverpool

Newcastle lost again at JJB stadium against Wigan. This time it was 2-1. The goal from Guthrie was the first one Newcastle have ever scored against Wigan at JJB. A win here would have been huge boost to the Newcastle players and fans alike, as they would have been propelled into the top half of the table. The magpies never showed any style, determination and agility, which they had displayed in recent games, and the result was sadly a deserved one.
Final Score: Wigan Athletics 2 - 1 Newcastle United |

A last gasp winner by Damien Duff gave Newcastle all 3 points at St James Park. Tottenham were second best in most departments, as Newcastle defence were again solid throughout the match. Newcastle's opener came from Nzogbia, who latched on to a long clearance from Shay Given, then fell, then picked himself up and guided the ball coolly past the oncoming Tottenahm goalkeeper. Tottenham then scored from what looked like an offside position to end the first half at 1-1. In the second half, Newcastle continued with their attacking style and had numerous chances to score, the most notable one falling to Michael Owen, who skyed his shot in to the crowd! Damien Duff came on as substitue with only 5 minutes left, and made his mark in the 90th. It was a fantastic one- two with Viduka in Tottenham's penalty area, which Duff put away with style. FANTASTIC! Newcastle are now 12th in the table and are only 5 points away from 6th position currently occupied by Hull with 27 points.
Final Score: Newcastle United 2 - 1 Tottenham

First away win under Joe Kinnear came at Portsmouth, with Michael Own, Martins and Guthrie on the score sheet. The first 20 minutes of the match was mainly in Newcastle half, but the main chances fell to the Toon. Martins hit the post with a shot, which would have been a challanger for the goal of the season.
The result sends Newcastle up to 14th position, above Sunderland and Tottenham. The next Newcastle match will be against Tottenham at home.
Final Score: Portsmouth 0 - 3 Newcastle United
